“Mais… y’a des trucs qui bougent là-d’dans ?!” — Pretty Rencontre les Pishons

Brace yourselves, friends of CCR, because today we witnessed the birth of a legendary interspecies bond — one that might just go down in history as the day a Springer Spaniel met her match… in a tank full of guppies.

Yes, you read that right.

This is the tale of Pretty and her Aquarium. A story of discovery, wonder, mild confusion, emotional processing, and (of course) button-pushed affection.

Act I – The Gift of the Deep

It all began at 3:33 AM (of course it did — Pretty is nothing if not mystically punctual).

After expressing herself beautifully in a late-night moment of reflection, Pretty was rewarded with something extraordinary:

Her very own aquarium.

Not just any aquarium, mind you. This was the garage tank — now officially designated as “l’aquarium de Pretty” — positioned perfectly at her eye level. Symbolically and spatially, it became hers.

But the revelation didn’t happen instantly. First, Pretty entered the garage in her usual inspector mode, sniffing about with a level of gravitas that only she can deliver. She gave the daphnia bucket a good whiff — head tilting slightly with a face that said:

“This smells… weird. But I’ll allow it.”

Then, her nose rose. Her eyes locked onto the glass-fronted mystery at her height.

And then — the sparkle.

Her pupils widened. Her head leaned in. And suddenly…

“Mais… y’a des trucs qui bougent là-d’dans ma parole !!!”

We were there. At the exact moment Pretty realized those shimmering creatures inside were alive.

Act II – The Button Debrief

We returned to the house. Pretty didn’t speak immediately — she processed. Slowly. Deeply. Like a dog who had just stared into the blue abyss and found it wiggling back at her.

Then, to the button pad she went. No hesitation. Two precise presses:

  • “Y’a un problème”

  • “Je t’aime papa”

Now if that’s not the most beautifully vulnerable statement from a Springer Spaniel discovering marine biology, we don’t know what is.

Let’s decode it:

“There’s a problem.” — because what even IS all this?? How do they breathe? Where are their legs? Can she chase them? Should she be worried?
“I love you, Dad.” — because in times of existential shock, only love can carry us through.

Naturally, the appropriate human response followed: 10 full minutes of forehead-to-chest cuddling therapy. Pretty was held. Understood. Validated.

And when the moment of clarity settled, Pretty punctuated the chapter with:

“On va dans la cuisine ?”

Well. Who can argue with that? - Snack time!

Act III – A New Friendship is Born

Make no mistake: what Pretty experienced was a first contact.

She didn’t bark. She didn’t jump. She observed. She wondered. She asked for comfort. And now… she knows.

That tank isn’t just décor. It’s a new dimension of reality, now incorporated into Pretty’s worldview.

We expect follow-up visits. Possibly button-presses like “On va voir les pishons ?” or even more complex sequences. And who knows — maybe, just maybe, this marks the beginning of a real bond between a Springer Spaniel and a school of guppies.

Reflections from the Lab (a.k.a. the Living Room)

This story is more than cute. It shows that:

✅ Pretty is able to associate new entities with emotional meaning.

✅ She sought emotional reassurance after a surprising encounter.

✅ Her buttons are not just tools — they’re mirrors of her inner life.

✅ Discovery isn’t just instinctual. It’s social, emotional, and layered.

The beauty of Pretty’s world is that everything speaks — and now that includes the quiet ripple of a guppy’s fin.

Final Words

To Pretty, we say:

Welcome to the marine world, sweet girl. There’s life in there — mysterious, glittering life — and now it’s part of yours.

To the guppies:

Swim well. You now have a very devoted — and emotionally articulate — fan.

To the rest of us:

Never underestimate what a dog can process. Especially not Pretty.

And yes — she earned that nonosse. Every bite of it.

Stay tuned for more on the evolving saga of Pretty & The Pishons.Who knows? Maybe she’ll teach them buttons one day.
